In order to participate in either event you must:

  1. Register by May 10, 2025 and only once.
  2. Enter your Educator Code. (See your school for this information.)
  3. Reside in the United States or Canada.
  4. Be between the ages of 13  and 18 years of age.
  5. Provide your first and last name.
  6. Provide your email address.
  1. For each of the two contests, 60 questions will be presented in 60-second increments to all participants via Zoom over the course of one hour.
  2. All 60 questions will be drawn from the 12-volume history book series THE CHRISTIANS: THEIR FIRST TWO THOUSAND YEARS — five questions from each volume.
  3. Answers will be in the form of a five-response “multiple-multiple choice” format, meaning the answer can be all five, none of the five, or any possible combination of the five responses.
  4. Answers will be submitted via Google Forms. Answers submitted after the 20-second window has elapsed for a question will be considered as unanswered.
  5. The junior high knowledge contest will take place at 1pm Central Time on Saturday May 31st, 2025, and the senior high knowledge contest will take place at 5pm Central Time on the same day.
  6. Winners of the essay competition are eligible to participate in the knowledge competition, but if an essay entrant wins one of the knowledge competitions their essay will be assessed but ineligible to win.
  7. The winners will be announced July 10, 2025 and awarded
    • Senior High School Competition (Grades 10-12)
      • USD$5000 for first place
      • USD$3000 for second place
      • USD$2000 for third place.
    • Junior/Middle School Competition (Grades 7-9)
      • USD$2500 for first place
      • USD$1500 for second place
      • USD$1000 for third place.

Upon registration you will be provided a unique identification code for contest purposes.

Be sure on the day of the knowledge contest:

  1. Ensure that you have a stable internet connection.
  2. Mute your microphone unless asked to unmute.
  3. Submit your answers from the same device used to join Zoom. Using multiple devices (e.g., one for Zoom, another for answers) is prohibited.
  4. 20-Second Window: Answers must be submitted via the provided form within the 20-second time limit per question. Late submissions, even by a second, won’t be accepted.
  5. No Edits: Once an answer is submitted, it’s final—no changes or resubmissions allowed.
  6. Independent Work: Participants must answer individually without assistance from others, notes, or external resources (e.g., textbooks, Google).
  7. No Collaboration: Communicating with others (e.g., via chat apps, phone, or in-person) during the competition is strictly forbidden.
  8. No Screen Sharing: Participants may not share their screen, questions, or answers with others in real-time or after the event (if questions are reused).
  9. Honesty: Any form of cheating, including using unauthorized tools or impersonating another participant, will result in immediate disqualification.
  10. Scoring Transparency: Points are awarded based on correct answers as determined by the answer key. Scoring details (e.g., 1 point per question) will be shared upfront.
  11. No Challenges During Event: Questions or scoring disputes can’t be raised mid-competition; participants may submit concerns afterward via a designated process (e.g., email within 24 hours).
  12. Ties: In case of a tie, a pre-set tiebreaker rule applies (e.g., fastest average submission time or a sudden-death question).
  13. Follow Instructions: Participants must adhere to the host’s directions (e.g., when to open forms, mute/unmute). Failure to comply may lead to penalties or removal.
  14. Time Limits: The competition will start and end as scheduled. Late arrivals may join but won’t receive extra time or points for missed questions.
  15. No Interruptions: Questions won’t be repeated unless there’s a widespread technical glitch, at the host’s discretion.
  1. The topic will be provided to you in a response email after you register by May 11 and must be submitted by midnight, Central Time. May 30, 2025 (the day before the Knowledge Contest).
  2. Your text should be no more than 1000 words in length for the senior high competition and no more than 600 words for the junior high competition.
  3. Essays will be reviewed by a panel of five judges.
  4. All facts presented should be properly sourced and cited in an accompanying bibliography. (which is not to be included in your word count).
  5. The winners for the best written composition will be announced on September 1st, 2025 and awarded:
    1. Senior High School Competition (Grades 10-12)
      1. USD$5000 for first place
      2. USD$3000 for second place
      3. USD$2000 for third place.
    2. Junior/Middle School Competition (Grades 7-9)
      1. USD$2500 for first place
      2. USD$1500 for second place
      3. USD$1000 for third place.
  1. Students can register in one event or both. We encourage students to participate in both.
  2. Winners of the Knowledge Contests who have also submitted to the Writing Competitions and win in both will have the choice of winning one award or the other. In this event the next best contestant will be selected for the declined award.
  3. SEARCH may disqualify a contestant if found to have engaged in plagiarism or if deemed to have competed in an unfair manner during the online knowledge competition.
  4. Disqualification: Breaking any rule may result in immediate removal from the competition and ineligibility for prizes or recognition.
  5. Evidence-Based Enforcement: Organizers reserve the right to investigate suspicious activity (e.g., identical answers, unusual timing) and act accordingly.
