Trump’s victory leaves the Democratic party in a leaderless shambles

The State

Questions and uncertainty abound for the troubled party of the progressives, as a de factor leader has yet to emerge in the wake of former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s defeat at the election polls. With President Barack Obama and his staff preparing to hand over the reins to the future Trump administration in its transition from the White House, Democrats are sobering up to the fact that a rough road lies ahead of them at the upcoming midterm elections in 2018 – as well as the next general election in 2020.

No one stepping up

As House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi shows signs of leaving her leadership post in the not-so-distant future, the Politico announced that it is uncertain who will appear as the next leader of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

There remains to be little indication about who will step up from the ruins – not even from those holding the Democratic Party’s purse strings.

“Many of the most prominent figures on the Left have largely remained silent about how the party can move forward from a stinging loss to a deeply flawed candidate in Trump,” Business Insider reported. “Top donors like billionaire investor Tom Steyer, who dropped an estimated $75 million on various races and ballot initiatives – much of it through his super PAC, NextGen Climate Action – said his team is combing through voter data, trying to figure out its best course of action.”

Steyer said the recuperation process is still a work in progress, as many Democrats are still in shock.
